A rip on the left side of the beach is the easy way out to the bigger peaks. Small waves near the sand are often busy with children learning, so give them room.

From Clifden take the R341 to Ballyconneely, turn towards the golf club, then follow the narrow road to the dunes and the track down to the beach.

Travel notes

How often it works
Surf-forecast calls it inconsistent: it only works when the swell and wind are just right.
Crowd and vibe
Guides disagree: one reports a crowded, local line-up, another says crowds are never a problem. Be polite and expect some local surfers on good days.
Facilities
None at the beach. Shops and a pub are in Ballyconneely.
Water quality
Not an EPA-monitored bathing water, so there is no official rating.
