Praia do Farol is the main beach of Vila Nova de Milfontes, on the north side of the Mira river mouth. Sandbanks from the river give peaks both ways, mellow on small days and punchy when a good swell arrives. Inside the estuary, Praia da Franquia has small, slow waves that schools use for first lessons.
