A small sandy cove west of Palma, between hotels and the Marivent palace. It is the classic wave of Mallorca: a sandbar gives rights and lefts that hold more size than most of the island. The yearly Memorial Pedro Mayor contest is held here.

Travel notes

How often it works
It needs about 1 m of south or south-west swell to start, so it breaks only a few days a month in winter. It holds up to about 2.5 m.
Crowd and vibe
Crowded on weekdays and very crowded on weekends. It is the home break of many Palma surfers.
Camping and vans
Mallorca has very few campsites and wild camping is not allowed; the few campsites are mostly in the north around Muro and Can Picafort.
Facilities
Tourist beach with bars, restaurants, showers and toilets; lifeguards in summer.
Water quality
Náyade lists Cala Major as fit for bathing; all 2026 samples so far were within limits.
