Praia da Vitória is the main town beach on Terceira's east coast. Breakwaters shelter the bay, so it only gets surf on strong swells, when good lefts with steep sections break, around the Riviera area. Wannasurf also lists rights over rock. The bay is better known for windsurfing and kitesurfing and has hosted Formula Windsurfing world championships.
