Needs a solid easterly storm swell in the Ionian Sea, so it breaks only now and then, mostly from autumn to spring.
Crowd and vibe
Gets very crowded when it breaks, with a strong local crew. Be patient and polite.
Camping and vans
Camping Jonio, on the coast at Ognina in Catania, is about 4.5 km away. Nearest campsite about 4.5 km away.
Facilities
Bars, restaurants and shops in the village of Aci Trezza, right by the spot.
Water quality
Mixed. The EU bathing site at the old harbour of Aci Trezza was rated poor every year from 2017 to 2025, while the sites around the Lachea island and the Scardamiano seafront were rated sufficient to excellent in 2025. Stay away from the harbour outfall, above all after rain.
