A small sandy beach break in the village of Bogliasco, just east of Genoa. The line-up sits in line with the tip of the harbour wall, which makes it easy to find. Italian surfing started here in the early 1970s. The beach is small, so it fills up fast.

History

Bogliasco is where surfing in Italy began, with the first local surfers in the early 1970s.

Travel notes

How often it works
Can have small waves when the rest of the area is flat, but it is a small beach and closes out when the swell gets big.
Crowd and vibe
Very busy on weekends and in summer. The mood is friendly and open to visitors, but there is little space.
Camping and vans
No campsite in the village. Genova Est campsite is about 500 m away up the valley. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
Facilities
Village beach with bars and shops. Parking is scarce.
Water quality
Zona Fontana and Zona Sotto Chiesa were rated excellent in 2025; the Rio del Poggio site, right by the beach, was only sufficient, so avoid the stream after rain.
