Summerleaze is Bude's main beach, right below the town, with the river and the canal breakwater on its south side and a free tidal sea pool on the rocks. It has easy peaks for learners on the inside and better banks further out. The breakwater and Compass Point give a little shelter from south-westerly winds.

Local tips
Signs ask people not to bathe on the breakwater side, where the river and the rip pull hardest. Surf schools work from this beach, so give the lesson zone space.
Getting there
The Summerleaze car park is next to the beach, and you can walk onto the sand without steps. There is another big car park beside the canal.
