Local tips

Lifeguards sometimes close the water on big days, even to bodyboarders. The access road below the cliff has had slope repair works because of rockfalls.

Travel notes

How often it works
Very consistent from autumn to spring.
Crowd and vibe
Popular with friendly locals; crowded at weekends.
Camping and vans
Wild camping is not allowed on Tenerife. The island council (Cabildo) runs camping zones, mostly in the hills and forests, that need a permit booked in advance. The Canary Government's draft decree would ban tourist overnight stays in vans outside official campsites.
Facilities
Parking in front of the beach and a small sandwich bar; beach safety staff close the water on dangerous days.
Water quality
In the 2025 EU bathing-water results, El Socorro was rated excellent. The beach was closed to bathing for two days in September 2026 after a high enterococci reading and reopened once tests were clean.
