Poça is a rocky reef in front of São João do Estoril on the Cascais line. It needs a strong Atlantic swell to wrap into the bay, and then it gives fast, tubing waves that dump onto shallow rock. It is Lisbon's big-wave option when the open coast is maxed out.

Travel notes
- How often it works
- It only breaks a few times a winter, when a large swell wraps around the Cascais coast. The rest of the year it is flat.
- Crowd and vibe
- Busy when it works, with a strong local crew. Treat locals with respect.
- Camping and vans
- Orbitur Guincho is about 7 km west. The Lisbon coast has few van-friendly places; Portuguese law limits motorhome overnight stays to 48 hours outside campsites. Nearest campsite about 7 km away.
- Facilities
- Lifeguards in summer, toilets, showers, a beach bar and a restaurant; trains run along the coast from Lisbon.
- Water quality
- Rated good (not excellent) in the 2025 official bathing-water classification (APA). Run-off after heavy rain is a known issue on the Cascais line.
