A small fishing harbour on Skåne's south coast, near the Ale stenar stone ship. Waves roll in towards the harbour, and a right breaks off the harbour wall over sand. It only works with a strong south-west to south wind swell, so it is rare.

Local tips
It is easy to get in from the harbour wall. Keep clear of boats and buoys at the harbour mouth. Watch the wind forecast more than the swell forecast: go when a strong onshore wind has blown for some hours, and catch the waves as it eases or turns. The sea drops to about 2 °C in winter: a 6/5 wetsuit or thicker, with boots, gloves and a hood.
Getting there
Drive the E65 about 15 km past Ystad. There is a car park, toilets and changing at the harbour.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- The Baltic has no ocean swell and almost no tide. Waves only come with a strong onshore wind, so it works a handful of days a month in autumn and winter at best, and the waves die soon after the wind drops. Kåseberga needs a strong south-west to south wind, which makes it one of the rarer spots.
