Labenne Océan is a wild, natural beach, less crowded than Hossegor or Biarritz, with surf spots stretching north and south of the central beach and old blockhouses on the northern part. The beach break is known for powerful waves and a big shorebreak, especially at high tide, which can produce heavy, hollow barrels on the right day. Sets can be large and unpredictable and the undertow is strong, so it is not a beginner spot outside lessons.
