P6, also called Bel's, is the northern end of the big beach on Maasvlakte 2, the land built out into the sea for the port of Rotterdam. The port works buried the old Slufter and Blokken spots; this beach replaced them. It is a sand beach break with lefts and rights, and it often has the best waves in the area, helped by the deeper water of the shipping channel next to it.

When it doesn't

✕ Strong onshore or cross-shore wind: the beach is wide open and the wind ruins it quickly.

Local tips

Check the wind first, since there is no shelter here. Further south along the same beach, P5 and the Containers beach handle a north-east wind better and are gentler. Sleeping in vans or cars on the Maasvlakte is not allowed and is fined. The North Sea is about 5–7 °C in winter: a 5/4 wetsuit with boots, gloves and a hood.

Getting there

Drive through the port to the end of the Maasvlakte and park at the free car park Hollandse Slag 6; the beach is right behind it. Space is limited on good days, so come early.

Travel notes

How often it works
Fairly consistent for the Dutch coast: the beach is wide open to the north and north-west and catches most North Sea storm swells. Summer is still mostly flat.
Crowd and vibe
A fairly busy line-up when it works, with a relaxed mood and friendly locals.
Camping and vans
Overnight stays on the Maasvlakte are not allowed. The nearest campsites are in the dunes of Oostvoorne, about 10 km away, such as Kampeerterrein Duinen van Oostvoorne and Camping Ketjil. Nearest campsite about 10 km away.
Facilities
Toilets at the car park and a lifeguard post further south on the beach in summer; no shops on the Maasvlakte itself.
Water quality
The EU bathing-water site Tweede Maasvlakte is rated excellent for 2025 in the European Environment Agency data. It was also excellent in 2023 and 2024.
