Local tips
Surf around high tide on the push. The groynes are made of stone and posts, so keep clear of them. Water is about 4–6 °C in winter: a 5/4 or 6/5 wetsuit with boots, gloves and a hood.
Getting there
Walk or cycle from Norderney town to the north beach; there is parking near the beach only outside the main season. The island is car-light, so the ferry from Norddeich and a bike work best.
