A boulder bay on the windy south-east coast of Gran Canaria, world-famous for windsurfing in the strong trade winds. When a north swell wraps around the island it gives rights over stones, and on calm mornings it is a surf spot too.

Travel notes

How often it works
Fairly consistent in autumn and winter, but the wind decides.
Crowd and vibe
Few surfers; the windsurf crowd dominates.
Camping and vans
Wild camping is not allowed on Gran Canaria. The island council (Cabildo) runs camping zones that need a permit booked online, and the closest legal option to camping by the sea is the campsite at Playa de Vargas on the east coast. The Canary Government's draft decree would ban tourist overnight stays in vans outside official campsites.
Facilities
Windsurf centre, a few cafés and parking in the village.
Water quality
In the 2025 EU bathing-water results, both Pozo Izquierdo points were rated excellent.
