Mayarko is a 400 m beach in the Acotz district, between Lafitenia and Cenitz, with a fairly soft reef wave breaking over a rock slab partly covered by sand. How well it works depends on how much sand covers the rocks: with sand in place, waves break in the middle and on the right of the bay. It is much quieter than the reefs on either side, which have longer waves.

Local tips

Check how much sand is on the reef before paddling out; some years it barely works. In summer local kids crowd the sandiest peaks. A big, dangerous reef left at the Lafitenia end is a different matter and not for visitors.
