When it doesn't

✕ Calm summer weather and strong onshore wind.

Watch out for

  • rocks

Best months

January, February, March, April, September, October, November, December

Local tips

Paddle out next to the pier. Rocks lie along the point. The tide is only a few centimetres, so it doesn't matter here. Watch the wind forecast more than the swell forecast: go when a strong onshore wind has blown for some hours, and catch the waves as it eases or turns. The sea drops to about 2 °C in winter: a 6/5 wetsuit or thicker, with boots, gloves and a hood.

Getting there

History

With Apelviken, Läjet is where Swedish surfing began in the 1980s.

Travel notes

How often it works
The Kattegat has no ocean swell and almost no tide. Waves come from strong westerly winds blowing across it, so it works on and off from September to March, and summer can be flat for weeks. Träslövsläge needs a south-west swell and is less consistent than Apelviken.
Crowd and vibe
Rarely crowded.
Camping and vans
Läjet Camping & Resort is about 1.5 km away. Nearest campsite about 1.6 km away.
Facilities
A small harbour; few facilities at the break.
Water quality
The EU bathing-water site Träslövsläge was rated good in 2023, 2024 and 2025 (European Environment Agency data).
