El Palmar is a beach of more than 4 km below the village of Vejer, and the heart of surfing in Andalusia. Many sandbar peaks break left and right, mostly rights, and on good days they are hollow and powerful. On small days it is one of the best places on the coast to learn. Many surf schools and surf camps line the road behind the beach.

Local tips
Mornings and evenings are often glassy, and the wind goes offshore in the afternoon. A long-time visitor on wannasurf says sand dumped on the beach in the late 2000s changed the banks: more rocks now show and small swells close out more often.
Getting there
El Palmar is on the coast road between Conil and Los Caños de Meca. Several car parks sit behind the beach; they fill up in summer.
