Trez Goarem is the long, wild dune beach west of Audierne, also called Saint-Tugen or Anse de Cabestan, with rocks showing at both ends and protected dunes behind. It is a consistent beach break with lefts and rights over sand and rock that works at all tides, and it can turn hollow, with tubes, when a solid south-west to west swell lines up. It is less crowded than the breaks around Audierne.

Local tips
The barrels tend to show at lower tides on the bigger days. At high tide the rocks come into play and the shorebreak gets heavy, which suits bodyboarders more than surfers. Rips and undertow are common, so pick a sandbank and watch the water before going in. It is seen as one of the more dangerous beaches in the area for swimmers.
Getting there
Leave Audierne on the road towards the Pointe du Raz and follow the beach signs near the Saint-Tugen chapel to a free car park a few minutes from the sand. A lifeguard post stands by the old blockhouse on the beach in summer.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fairly consistent. This open dune beach faces south-west and picks up most west to south-west swells from about 1–1.5 m. It holds waves up to about 2.5 m, but summer is often flat.
- Crowd and vibe
- Usually quiet, because most surfers stop at the better-known Audierne spots. It can still get busy on good autumn swells, and the mood is relaxed.
- Camping and vans
- There is no campsite at the beach. Camping de Kerivoas, on the Pointe du Raz road, is about 3.5 km east, and Camping Naéco Baie d'Audierne at Loquéran is a bit further. Vans can use the paid aire (motorhome area) on Rue Lamartine in Audierne; visitors say overnight parking is not allowed in the town's other car parks. Nearest campsite about 3.5 km away.
- Facilities
- A wild beach with a free car park and a lifeguard post in summer, but no toilets or showers listed. Shops, cafés and restaurants are in Audierne.
- Water quality
- The official test point for the Anse du Cabestan was rated Excellent for 2025, and every 2026 sample was good. Trez Goarem held the Pavillon Bleu (Blue Flag) in 2025.
