Gwenver (also spelled Gwynver) is the wild northern end of Whitesand Bay, next to Sennen, under steep cliffs. Few beaches in Cornwall pick up more swell. The peaks are powerful and hollow, and a right breaks off the rocks at its northern tip. With no facilities and a steep path down, it rarely gets crowded.

Local tips

To reach the point, paddle out in the rip on the right side, but stay out of the water when the big rips are running. Signs also warn that rocks fall from the cliffs, so don't sit right under them.

Getting there

A small car park above the beach, reached by a lane signed to Tregiffian Farm off the A30, then a very steep path of about ten minutes; or walk the coast path from Sennen Cove.

Travel notes

How often it works
A swell magnet: it is open to swells from the south-west to the north-west and has waves on most days, even in summer.
Crowd and vibe
Quieter than Sennen, with experienced locals; on summer weekends it can still get busy.
Camping and vans
Trevedra Farm sits above the beach, with a steep 10–15 minute path down to Gwenver. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
Facilities
No toilets or other facilities at the beach, but lifeguards patrol in summer; Sennen Cove has cafés and toilets.
Water quality
Gwenver is not a designated bathing water; neighbouring Sennen was rated excellent in the 2025 classification.
