A long left breaking off the rock ledge at the end of Lahinch beach. On a good swell one ride can last 300 m or more. The wave is a long wall that gets slower towards the end, with room to turn, so it suits intermediate surfers. Locals have surfed it for decades.

When it doesn't

✕ Westerly winds, and small swells that don't reach the reef.

Watch out for

  • rocks
  • rips
  • crowds

Local tips

The rip comes out near O'Looney's on the promenade, which helps getting out but can tire you on the way back. Kick out before the inside gets shallow.

Getting there

Walk over the rocks from Lahinch town to the reef. You can park above the reef or at the beach; some spaces are free and some are paid.
