The most famous surf spot on Fuerteventura, in a bay just west of Majanicho on the North Shore. Two peaks break over volcanic reef: the left is fast, hollow and powerful, and the right, known as the Derecha de los Alemanes, is shorter but also barrels and needs a bit more swell.

Local tips

Booties are advised. A small tidal pool in the bay makes an easy entry; locals use the rocky ridge to its right. On the way out, stay in the middle of the bay, as the current pushes you into a small side bay full of rotting seaweed.

Getting there

Park with the other cars along the North Shore track at the bay, reached by the dirt tracks from Corralejo or El Cotillo, or the tarmac road from Lajares to Majanicho.

Travel notes

How often it works
One of the most regular spots on the island from September to May.
Crowd and vibe
Busy at weekends and on good days; some localism is reported on the right.
Camping and vans
Wild camping is not allowed on Fuerteventura; only marked camping zones may be used, and the island council is still drawing up its camping rules. The Canary Government's draft decree would ban tourist overnight stays in vans and campers outside official campsites.
Facilities
None; the small sandy beach in the bay is a good place to watch from.
Water quality
There is no official bathing-water point on this stretch of the North Shore; the nearest points, at Corralejo and El Cotillo about 7–8 km away, are not representative.
