Roche is a string of small golden coves below sandstone cliffs north of Conil, around the Cabo Roche lighthouse. The beach break here can be punchy and powerful, with lefts and rights between rocky reefs. It picks up swell well and is one of the more dependable spots on this coast. Expect rocks in the line-up.

Local tips

Go down the cliff stairs to the cove that looks best; the rocks between the coves change how each one breaks. Wannasurf mentions a sewage outlet near Roche, so avoid it after heavy rain.

Getting there

Through the Roche housing estate, off the road between Conil and the fishing port. Steep stairs lead down the cliffs to the coves.
