A rocky cove on the Saint-Marc-sur-Mer shore, between Saint-Eugène and Géorama beaches inside Pointe de Chémoulin, where rights peel along rock shelves covered in oysters. Tucked away from much of the wind, it works as a semi-fallback when other spots are messy. High tide gives slow, easy rights, while mid to low tide brings better-shaped, punchier waves. It is known locally as the surf spot of Saint-Marc but rarely draws a crowd.

Local tips
Reef boots are close to essential: the oyster-covered shelves cut feet badly. Come at high tide for a cruisy session, or toward mid to low tide for more push. When La Courance turns into a closeout shorebreak at high tide, these softer rights are the usual alternative.
Getting there
On the Saint-Marc coast west of the village, off route de l'Océan, with a bus stop (line H2, Grand Traict) about 200 m away. Parking around the Chémoulin coves is tight and the rocky way down needs care.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Surf-forecast rates it quite reliable outside summer. It is sheltered from the wind, so it is a useful fallback when La Courance closes out.
- Crowd and vibe
- It is quiet, with a small crowd, partly because the oyster-covered rocks put people off.
- Camping and vans
- A campsite faces La Courance beach, about 1.5 km east. In our directory, Camping du Bugeau and Camping Bel Air in Pornichet are about 3 km away. Nearest campsite about 1.5 km away.
- Facilities
- There are no facilities at the cove. Saint-Marc-sur-Mer village, nearby, has cafés and the M. Hulot beach with summer lifeguards.
- Water quality
- The nearest monitoring point, Les Jaunais, was rated good every season from 2022 to 2025. The M. Hulot beach in Saint-Marc holds the 2026 Pavillon Bleu.
