Santa Iria is a rocky bay below high cliffs near Ribeirinha on São Miguel's north coast. A consistent left breaks over a rock reef, and on good days several sections link up into long rides. The cliffs block a lot of the side-shore wind. Other, shorter waves break in the bay.
