Plage Sud runs south from Soulac's seafront towards L'Amélie along the boulevard de l'Amélie. Its sandbanks are fed by sand carried out of the Gironde estuary and often give the hollowest, most tubing waves of the north Médoc, short and close to the shore. Waves are smaller than on the beaches further south but fairly consistent. It is usually quieter than the town beach and suits competent surfers who can handle fast take-offs and a strong drift.

Local tips

The waves break close to the beach, so timing the paddle out between sets matters more than distance. Expect a strong longshore current and pick a landmark on the shore to check your drift. Banks change quickly here, so walk along the beach to find the best peak.

Getting there

From central Soulac follow the boulevard de l'Amélie south; the beach runs along it between the town and the Amélie district.

Camping Les Sables d'Argent is about 400 m away, and Camping Le Palace is about 700 m. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
Facilities
There is a summer lifeguard post on the beach. The shops and cafés of central Soulac are a short drive away.
Water quality
The Soulac Sud monitoring point was rated good every season from 2022 to 2025, and all five 2026 samples were good. Several Soulac beaches, including the central beach and L'Amélie, hold the 2026 Pavillon Bleu.
