A small pier at the landing beach in Nørre Vorupør that makes a fun left, and sometimes a right. Fishing boats are still pulled up on the beach here. It works in many wind directions, so it is one of the most surfed spots in Thy and gets crowded.

Local tips

Get in just south of the pier and paddle round it. Keep away from the pier itself; it hits hard. The big pier to the west was blocked by sand in recent years and rarely works. Water drops to about 5 °C in winter: a 5/4 or 6/5 wetsuit with boots, gloves and a hood.

The Thy coast takes North Sea wind swell from the south-west round to the north, so autumn, winter and spring bring waves most weeks. Real groundswell is rare, periods are short, and summer can be flat for long spells. The pier gives some shelter, so it works on more days than the open beaches.
