La Rotonda is a sandy peak at the south end of Ocata beach, where El Masnou meets Montgat, about 12 km north-east of Barcelona. It takes its name from the roundabout on the coast road above it. Lefts and rights break over a sandbar close to the beach. It is one of the most surfed waves on the Barcelona coast, and on a good winter day it is packed.

Travel notes
- How often it works
- It needs an easterly storm in the Mediterranean, so it works a few days a month from autumn to spring and almost never in summer. The waves are short-period wind swell: they build fast and fade within a day.
- Crowd and vibe
- Very crowded when it works, and packed on weekends. Most of the Barcelona surf community comes here, so expect competition for waves and keep to the usual right-of-way rules.
- Camping and vans
- Campsite listings on OpenStreetMap show nothing close. The nearest is Camping Barcelona in Mataró, about 18 km north-east. Nearest campsite about 18 km away.
- Facilities
- A town beach with the train station, cafés and parking along the coast road.
- Water quality
- Náyade lists Platja d'Ocata as fit for bathing. All 18 samples in 2026 and 2025 were within the limits, but surf guides warn of dirty water after storms.
