Mané Guen is the southern part of the Plouharnel strand, a wide west-facing sandy beach with a run of beachbreak peaks. The waves are modest and soft but form decent walls until the swell gets big enough to close out, which makes it a common lesson beach and a pleasant spot for longboarders. Near high tide the waves break closer in, on the steeper upper part of the beach. It is spacious and calm even in summer and shared with kitesurfers and land yachts.

Local tips

It is a useful high-tide option when the Côte Sauvage is too full, but the waves get shorter and closer to the sand near the top of the tide. Give kitesurfers and land yachts plenty of room on windy days. There are no lifeguards, so learners should come with a school or experienced company.

Getting there
