Les Casernes is the northern beach of Seignosse, at the end of a road through the dunes and less built up than Le Penon. It is a fun beach break with lefts and rights over shifting banks; a good bank can give a left of 50–70 m. The waves are usually less powerful and hollow than at La Gravière or La Piste and the lineup is friendlier, which makes it a good escape from the Penon crowd for intermediates.

Local tips
Early morning, around 8 am, or the last two hours of daylight are usually the best and calmest times. Stay out of the swimming zone between the blue flags: the lifeguards enforce it strictly and the current there is strong. Mornings see local workers in the water before the campsite crowd arrives later in the day.
Getting there
From Le Penon drive north toward Vieux-Boucau, turn left at the Les Oyats campsite and follow the road to the car park at its end, then walk about five minutes over the dune. Parking here is free.
