Le Penon is the heart of Seignosse surfing, right in front of the resort. It is a powerful beach break with lefts and rights; to the south the remains of a large collapsed jetty produce lefts breaking off it, and a small wooden jetty sometimes helps sandbars form. It is consistent and busy, packed in summer and almost empty in autumn and winter. It suits intermediates who can handle a crowd and a strong rip.

Local tips
Peaks can hold 30–40 surfers on small summer days and the mood gets competitive, so spread out along the beach or come out of season. The rip here is strong; use it to get out and paddle across it, not against it, to come back in.
Getting there
Park in the free car park behind the dunes next to the road and cross the dune to the beach in under five minutes.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Le Penon is open to all swells and is one of the most consistent beaches in Seignosse. It works most days. A strong rip current builds as the swell gets bigger.
