L'Océan is an open beach break in the middle of the Anglet strip, sharing its sandbars with Les Dunes to the north. Several peaks spread along the sand and the waves vary a lot with the swell and banks. Local guides describe it as a good place to start, and it works through much of the tide.

Local tips

Treat Océan and Dunes as one spot and walk to whichever bank looks best. Tide timing matters on all the Anglet beaches, so check the tide before heading out.

Getting there

Car park at the beach on the Anglet seafront road (paid for non-residents from May to October).

Travel notes

How often it works
Like Les Dunes, it is open to the swell and has waves most days. The sandbanks move, so the best peak changes often.
Crowd and vibe
Moderately busy. It is quieter than the beaches at each end of Anglet, but summer weekends still bring a crowd.
Camping and vans
Anglet has motorhome aires at La Barre and Les Corsaires. The only campsite is Eden Villages Bela Basque, above Lac de Brindos, about 4.5 km away. Nearest campsite about 4.5 km away.
Facilities
There is a car park at the beach (paid for non-residents, May to October) and a lifeguard post in summer.
Water quality
Anglet's beaches are rated excellent and fly the Pavillon Bleu (Blue Flag). Heavy rain can close a beach for a few hours. Check the Kalilo app.
