The central beach of Biscarrosse-Plage, in the middle of the resort, is the easiest place in town to get in the water. It is a typical Landes beach break with lefts and rights over sandbars that change from storm to storm, giving fun walls on most days and stronger, tubing waves when a clean groundswell meets an offshore wind. In summer the lifeguarded zone makes it the family and beginner beach, while autumn swells bring more power. Further south, Plage Sud has a bank that works at high tide and is a favourite with locals.

Local tips
Arrive early: the beach is crowded in summer and the wind is usually lighter in the morning, although the central beach also suits a calm evening session. Keep well clear of the flagged swimming zone and ask the lifeguards where the baïnes are running that day. An anemometer at the central beach gives live wind readings.
Getting there
In the heart of Biscarrosse-Plage, with the seafront car parks and the beach a few minutes' walk apart; several surf schools work from here.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- It gets the same open-ocean swell as the rest of Biscarrosse, so it works most days. It handles small summer waves and big winter swells. On big swells the sandbanks close out.
- Crowd and vibe
- This is the busiest stretch in town. In July and August surf schools, holidaymakers and bodyboarders fill the water, and weekends are busy all season. The mood is mostly relaxed, though wannasurf notes some localism from older shortboarders.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Campéole Le Vivier is about 700 m from the sea, roughly 2 km north of the centre. The Camping-Car Park Biscarrosse aire is in the dunes, about 500 m from the sand. From 1 May to 30 September, motorhome parking is banned from midnight to 8 am outside the official aires. Nearest campsite about 2 km away.
- Facilities
- This is the town centre, with toilets, showers, cafés, restaurants, surf shops, surf schools and a lifeguarded swimming zone in summer.

- All of Biscarrosse's bathing sites are rated excellent in the official French rating (national open data, 2022).
