Local tips

Strong undercurrents run along the beach; on bigger days pick a peak away from the rips. Summer is calm and good for learning; autumn and winter are for experienced surfers. Kiting is allowed here too. Water is about 5–7 °C in late winter and up to about 16–18 °C in late summer: a 5/4 with boots, gloves and a hood from autumn to spring.

Getting there

Bore lies on the Norwegian Scenic Route Jæren (FV507); park behind the dunes and use the marked paths.

Travel notes

How often it works
Jæren is Norway's most consistent surf coast: open to the North Sea from south-west to north-west, it gets waves most weeks from September to April, from both wind swell and longer North Atlantic swell. Summer is smaller and often flat. The tide range is small.
Crowd and vibe
The busiest beach in Jæren, with surf schools in summer, but long enough to spread out.
Camping and vans
Bore Strandcamping is about 1 km away; it is the only Jæren beach with both a hotel and a campsite. Nearest campsite about 1 km away.
Facilities
Bore Surf Senter offers lessons and rental, with hot outdoor showers and changing rooms; hotel, cabins and a seaside sauna by the beach.
Water quality
No bathing-water results were found: Norway is not in the European Environment Agency bathing-water data, and no local results for this beach turned up.
