Reefs and a beach break around the old harbour at Reve, south of Bore. It does not break often, but on the right swell it gives hollow, powerful waves, lefts and rights, over a sand and rock bottom.

Local tips

Experienced surfers only: the reef is shallow and the locals have priority. The stretch from Reve harbour south to Orre is a bird-protected area: the county governor bans surfing, kiting and other board sports there from 1 November to 31 March (some tourism pages say from 1 October), and you must not disturb birds at any time. Water is about 5–7 °C in late winter and up to about 16–18 °C in late summer: a 5/4 with boots, gloves and a hood from autumn to spring.

Getting there

There is a good car park at the old harbour.

Travel notes

How often it works
Jæren is Norway's most consistent surf coast: open to the North Sea from south-west to north-west, it gets waves most weeks from September to April, from both wind swell and longer North Atlantic swell. Summer is smaller and often flat. The tide range is small. Reve needs a bigger swell than the beaches, so it breaks less often.
Crowd and vibe
Few surfers in the week, crowded at weekends when it works; respect the locals.
Camping and vans
Bore Strandcamping is about 3 km north. Nearest campsite about 3 km away.
Facilities
Car park at the harbour; nothing else.
Water quality
No bathing-water results were found: Norway is not in the European Environment Agency bathing-water data, and no local results for this beach turned up.
