Brazomar is the town beach of Castro Urdiales: about 300 m of sand right in the town, tucked in behind the harbour breakwater. The wall blocks most of the swell, so it only wakes up when the open coast is big. Then it gives short, soft peaks both ways that shift around. The wave is easy and uncrowded, a relaxed fallback at the eastern end of Cantabria when the open beaches are out of control.

Local tips
Come here on storm days, when the open coast is too big and messy to surf. Low tide is the only time it really works. Rides are short, usually well under 50 m. Weekdays are normally empty.
Getting there
It is in the middle of Castro Urdiales, just off the A-8. The promenade and town parking are a couple of minutes' walk from the sand.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- It rarely works. The harbour wall shelters the bay so well that it needs a strong north or north-west swell. It comes alive mainly in autumn and winter, when the open coast is too big.
- Crowd and vibe
- Very few surfers paddle out, and weekdays are usually empty. In summer the beach fills with swimmers inside a marked bathing zone, so surf early, late or out of season.
- Camping and vans
- No campsite is listed in Castro Urdiales itself. The nearest are Camping Playa Arenillas at Islares and Camping de Oriñón, both about 8–9 km west along the A-8. Nearest campsite about 8.5 km away.
- Facilities
- A full town beach: toilets, showers, a sailing club and the tourist office, with bars and parking along the promenade.
- Water quality
- Bandera Azul beach in 2026, which needs excellent water tests the season before. It sits right next to the town harbour.
