Luaña is a quiet, 400 m beach in a valley below Cóbreces, in Alfoz de Lloredo. It works on medium swells and gives shifting peaks over sand, around a metre high, that suit beginners and improvers. There are surf schools and a surf camp. Since building work around the beach in 2008, sand loss has uncovered more stones and rocks.

Local tips

Low tide and the start of the rising tide are best. It is a calm alternative to the busier Suances and San Vicente beaches.

Getting there

It is signposted from Cóbreces. You can also come from the west, on the road down from Trasierra in Ruiloba. You can drive close to the sand.

Travel notes

How often it works
Works on medium swells, but the small bay faces north and is fairly sheltered. So it is less consistent than the open beaches around Suances.
Crowd and vibe
A quiet, relaxed spot, mostly surf-school groups and a few locals. It stays calmer than Suances or San Vicente even in summer.
Camping and vans
Camping El Helguero in Ruiloba is about 2.5 km west (open April to September). In Cóbreces village, about 1 km inland, there are two áreas de autocaravanas: Las Hazas and El Jardín de Cóbreces. Nearest campsite about 2.5 km away.
Facilities
Parking close to the sand and surf schools and a surf camp nearby; we found no confirmed details on lifeguards or cafés.
Water quality
Luaña lost its Bandera Azul years ago (at least since 2007) and is not on the 2026 list. We could not check its official water rating.
