Galizano is a small cove below cliffs in Ribamontán al Mar, with two waves. On the beach there is a powerful break that tends to close out. Off the rocks, a fickle right peels over a reef partly covered in sand and can get very good. The cove is exposed enough to pick up small summer swells. Galizano Point, a sharper right over rock just to the west, toward Arenillas, only breaks a few days a year and is for experienced surfers.

Local tips
Surf it from low to mid tide, when the right over the reef has shape. The rocks at the take-off of the point are dangerous. On its rare good days the point draws a small, local crowd. For the point, park at Arenillas and look from the cliff before you paddle out. The area is part of Ribamontán al Mar's surf reserve.
Getting there
Walk down from Galizano village to the beach, a few minutes from the car. The point is reached from Arenillas beach next door.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- The cove is open to the north-west, so it picks up small summer swells. The reef right only has good shape from low to mid tide. The point next to Arenillas works only a few days a year, on a solid swell.
- Crowd and vibe
- Normally quiet, with only a few surfers at weekends, as most people go to Langre or Somo. On the point's rare good days, a small local crew takes it, so watch first and wait your turn.
- Camping and vans
- No campsite is listed in Galizano itself. The nearest are in Loredo (Camping Derby Loredo and Camping El Arbolado), about 4.5 km west. Camping Cabo de Ajo is about 6.5 km east. Nearest campsite about 4.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Summer lifeguards, showers and parking above the cove, but no surf shop or school on the beach.
- Water quality
- No water rating was found for Galizano, and it has no Bandera Azul. Its monitored neighbour Langre was rated excellent by the EU five years running, in the latest data (2021).
