La Sud is the southern end of Hossegor, against the north jetty of the Capbreton harbour channel. It is the most sheltered beach in Hossegor, with a softer take-off: peaks throw lefts and rights, and when the banks line up long, fast lefts run back toward the central beach. Because it filters big swells it is the usual fallback when the beaches to the north are too big. It suits a wide range of surfers and is popular with surf schools.

Local tips
Take off right at the peak: the wave is fast and the shoulder keeps building, so you need to keep speed. On big days, when La Gravière is maxed out, La Sud fills up quickly with schools and good surfers alike. In summer, walking north through the woods to less crowded banks is a common move.
Getting there
At the south end of Hossegor's seafront by the harbour channel; park in town (paid in summer) and walk a few minutes to the beach.
