Le Touquet-Paris-Plage has a very wide, flat beach open to the west, from the Canche estuary in the north to open sand in the south. A westerly swell gives a sloppy beach break that rarely has much power, but on the right day the waves are easy and suit beginners. The watersports centre at the southern end runs taster surf sessions. Sand yachts and kites share the beach, especially south of the thalasso (the seawater spa).

Local tips

In summer surfing is banned inside the swimming zone, so head south past the thalasso towards the watersports base. Kiters say the best waves form off the sand spit at the north end, by the Canche estuary, on a falling tide, but the current there is strong. Expect it empty most days.

Getting there

Park along the seafront. The Bertrand Lambert watersports centre at the south end of the beach has facilities and runs surf, paddleboard and kite sessions.

Travel notes

How often it works
Works only now and then. Wannasurf says it breaks only sometimes, and the huge flat beach turns west swell into soft, messy waves. It needs a west to north-west swell and an east wind. Summer is usually flat.
Crowd and vibe
Wannasurf reports it empty all week. In summer the beach is busy with swimmers, kiters and land yachts rather than surfers. Surfing is not allowed in the swimming zone in season.
Camping and vans
Caravaning Stoneham on avenue François Godin lies between the forest and the sea, about 1 km from the centre. It is open roughly March to October for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Motorhomes can also use the paid aire by the watersports base (about €17 a night, open all year) or the aire at the racecourse. Nearest campsite about 1.5 km away.
Facilities
The south beach by the Bertrand Lambert watersports centre has toilets, showers, restaurants and lifeguards in July and August. The centre runs beginner surf, paddleboard and kite sessions.
Water quality
The ARS rated it good for 2025, after three years at only sufficient (2022–2024) and insufficient as recently as 2015. Rain run-off probably comes from the Canche estuary at the north end.
