Quiberville is an open pebble beach where the Saâne river meets the sea, west of the Cap d'Ailly. Lower down the tide a long stretch of sand appears in front of the shingle, and the waves break there, usually small and soft, which makes it a quiet place to learn. It needs a west to north-west swell pushed up the Channel; it is better known locally for kitesurfing, so the line-up is empty on the few days it works.

Local tips
Aim for the lower half of the tide, when the sand is uncovered and the waves stop breaking on the stones. The beach has several breakwaters and rocks show at low tide, so look at the beach before paddling out. Keep away from the foot of the cliffs, where rockfalls are frequent.
Getting there
Park along the seafront, where free spaces are usually easy to find. The beach has toilets, summer showers and a lifeguard post in July and August.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fickle. Like the rest of this coast, it only works on the few days a solid north-west swell gets this far up the Channel, mainly in autumn and winter. The sand it needs only shows on the lower half of the tide.
- Crowd and vibe
- Rarely surfed and barely written about, so expect few or no other surfers. On windy days you share the water with kitesurfers. In summer the crowds are swimmers in the lifeguarded zone, not surfers.
- Camping and vans
- Camping de la Plage on Rue de la Saâne is a couple of hundred metres behind the beach and has a motorhome area. Domaine Saâne et Mer, about 700 m up the valley, has a pool and motorhome services. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Toilets, summer showers and a lifeguard post in July and August. No surf school was found; the nearest lessons and board hire are at Surf'in Pourville.
- Water quality
- ARS Normandie rated Quiberville beach good for 2025. The Saâne river reaches the sea here, so be careful after heavy rain.
