La Digue is the beach just north of the long Adour river jetty at Tarnos. The jetty shapes a narrow peak whose left is punchy and technical, and the wave works well when there is swell. It is an expert spot with a small takeoff zone, so it becomes very hard to get waves once more than about fifteen people are out. The river brings poor water quality after rain.

Local tips
Be patient and polite: the peak is small and localism here has been covered in the regional press. Visiting and less experienced surfers are better off at the Plage du Métro. Swimming near the jetty is banned because of wrecks.
Getting there
Drive through the industrial area to the end of route de la Barre in Tarnos and walk a few minutes to the beach.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Wannasurf rates it regular. The long Adour jetty holds the sandbank in place, so it can have good shape on the right swell. But the peak is small and needs the sand by the jetty to line up.
- Crowd and vibe
- It is a very private spot with a tight local crew, and its localism has been in the regional press. Visitors are better off at the Plage du Métro. Weekends are crowded.
- Camping and vans
- Camping Jobel in Tarnos is the nearest campsite, about 2.5 km from the sea. Nearest campsite about 3.5 km away.
- Facilities
- There is nothing at the jetty, which you reach through an industrial area. Toilets, a snack bar and a surf school are at the Plage du Métro.
- Water quality
- Tarnos' bathing sites are rated excellent in the official French rating (national open data, 2022). But wannasurf lists pollution as a danger at the Adour jetty. Stay away after heavy rain.
