Verdicio is a row of three wild, dune-backed beaches on the west side of Cabo Peñas: Verdicio (about 330 m), Aguilera and La Carniciega, linked at low tide. It is very exposed to north-west swell and has peaks at all three. Verdicio is known for a powerful left with hollow sections in good conditions. At high tide a heavy shorebreak dumps on the sand. It sits inside the Cabo Peñas Protected Landscape.

Local tips
Surf from low to mid tide and avoid the high-tide shorebreak. At low tide you can walk to Aguilera and La Carniciega, where the waves are usually more moderate. Swimming here is often dangerous.
Getting there
Two lanes lead down from the AS-328. The south-western one ends at a small car park by the sand. There is more parking on the cliff-top meadows and a footpath down to Aguilera. In summer there are lifeguards, showers and food.
Travel notes
- How often it works
- Fully open to the north-west, so it picks up most swells. It is better at low to mid tide. High tide brings a hard shorebreak.
- Crowd and vibe
- The busiest of the three linked beaches, with big summer crowds on the sand. Local surfers come here when sheltered Bañugues is flat, so good days draw a crowd.
- Camping and vans
- Camping on the beach is banned. The nearest campsite is Camping El Molino at Bañugues, about 5.5 km east, with an área de autocaravanas next door. Nearest campsite about 5.5 km away.
- Facilities
- Summer lifeguards with a defibrillator, showers, a car park and bars or restaurants nearby.
- Water quality
- A local tourism guide describes the water as excellent, but Verdicio is not on the 2026 Bandera Azul list and no official rating was found.
