Agiti is a big-wave right that breaks in a cobble and boulder cove below Mount Igeldo, just west of San Sebastián. It faces roughly north-north-west and only comes alive in very large north-west storms, when faces of six metres and more are reported. The ride is long, but it finishes close to the cliff, and the rocks and currents are close at hand. It is a tow-in wave for a small group of specialists, not a spot to paddle out at.

Local tips

Only experienced big-wave teams with jet skis and rescue cover should consider it, and even then a rescue near the cliff can be almost impossible. The conditions rarely line up, so sessions are few. For everyone else it is a spot to watch from the Igeldo cliffs.

Getting there

It is about a five-minute walk from the road on the Igeldo coast, near a small village. There are no facilities at the cove.

History

Ibon Amatriain and Mikel Agote were the first to ride it, in the 2000s. Axi Muniain has led the sessions since a December 2011 swell, which earned four nominations at the Billabong XXL Big Wave Awards.

Travel notes

Water quality
Agiti is not an official bathing point, so it has no water rating. The nearest rated beach, Ondarreta, is excellent (Basque Government, 2026).
