Andrín is a pretty cove below the cliffs east of Llanes, with an islet in the middle and peaks breaking either side of it. It is exposed and very consistent. The peaks break fast and hollow, left and right, over sand and rock, and the steep, jumping waves are popular with bodyboarders. It holds up to about 2.5 m, and small days leave calmer corners for less experienced surfers. The narrow bay pulls strong rips, and the regular crew is protective of it.

Local tips

It works on most tides, but keep away from the top of the tide, when the waves hit the rocks. Watch the rips and the currents near the shore, which get strong when the swell is up. The water is usually quiet, so keep it friendly.

Getting there

Drive to Andrín village and follow the signs to the upper car park. Then walk down a marked path for 5 to 15 minutes. There are toilets, showers and a kiosk in season.
