Palombina is the main beach of Celorio, tucked behind islets and reefs that hold back most swells. It is a big-day option, mostly in winter. When the open beaches nearby max out, Palombina and Las Cámaras turn on with clean, smaller peaks, left and right.

When it works

✓ A big north-west swell of 2.5 m or more at low, rising tide, with a south-west wind.

When it doesn't

✕ Anything under about 2 m offshore leaves it flat, and high tide makes it sluggish, then kills it.

Watch out for

  • rips
  • rocks

Best months

January, February, November, December

Local tips

Check it when the open coast is maxed out. Strong rips are reported, so watch where the water drains out between the islets.

Getting there

Palombina is in Celorio village, just off the coast road west of Llanes. Parking is close to the beach.

Travel notes

How often it works
Islets and reefs block most swell, so it only works on big north-west swells. It is a winter spot, for days when the open beaches are too big.
Crowd and vibe
Few surfers, even on good days. In summer the beach is packed with bathers.
Camping and vans
Camping Playa de Troenzo is on the Celorio–Barro road, about 0.5 km from the beach. Camping Sorraos in Barro is about 2 km west. Nearest campsite about 0.5 km away.
Facilities
A village beach with toilets, showers, a bar and a large car park, plus lifeguards every day from mid June to early September.
Water quality
Official Náyade tests from 2023 to 2026 are mostly clean, with only small rises now and then, and every sample fit for bathing.
