Cadavedo is a remote beach of boulders, sand and rock below the cliffs of Cadavedo, in Valdés. It was once a medieval whaling port and now has a Blue Flag. A long right breaks over cobbles and rock, with room for turns and some left sections. The waves on the beach are about half a metre to 1.5 m. It needs a solid north-west groundswell and low tide, so it is inconsistent. Few people make the trip.

Local tips

Low tide is best for the right. Watch the rocks in the water. A good day usually means 10 to 20 surfers at most.

Getting there

A local road leads down to a large car park by the beach.

Travel notes

How often it works
Fickle. The bay is fairly open, but the wave only lines up with a north-west groundswell at the right tide, so it works best in autumn and winter.
Crowd and vibe
Rarely crowded in the water. A good day means maybe 10 to 20 surfers. The beach itself fills with bathers in summer.
Camping and vans
Camping La Regalina sits in Cadavedo village, about 1 to 1.5 km from the beach, and has a waste dump for motorhomes. Nearest campsite about 1 km away.
Facilities
Large car park and summer lifeguards; bars and restaurants are up in the village.
Water quality
Blue Flag beach on the 2026 list, and guides praise its clean water, which also draws divers.
