Otur, nicknamed 'Brutal Beach', is a long, open beach of fine sand with scattered rocks, about 600 m, west of Luarca and backed by pine woods. It picks up plenty of swell and is one of the most popular and reliable surf beaches in western Asturias. Several peaks along the sand give waves that are good for turns. The best, La Chavía on the right side, gives powerful rights and tubes; the right side also gets the biggest waves. Waves are usually half a metre to 2 m, sometimes more.
