Salseiras is the 800 m beach beside the old whaling village of Caión, on the Costa da Morte. It is very consistent and often the only place working when the coast is flat. Peaks break both ways across the bay over shifting sand. When small it suits beginners and surf schools; above about 1.5 m it gets powerful and physical, with marked rips. After a session, local surfers meet at the port bars, and visitors find them friendly.
