Valcovo, also called Area Grande, is a short, semi-urban beach of about 250 m in Arteixo, on the road to Caión. Bodyboarders love its punchy peaks, where waves meet and jump up, and it is one of Galicia's favourite bodyboarding spots. The waves are explosive and can barrel, especially with a south wind. It is very consistent and holds up to about 3 m.
