The long sandy beach either side of the Fort-Bloqué (Fort de Keragan) runs for nearly 2 km across the Guidel–Ploemeur boundary. Pen er Malo, the slightly enclosed Guidel section north of the fort, gives cleaner and gentler waves than Le Loch, while Lannénec to the south has the smallest waves on this coast. It breaks often but rarely with much push, so it is the area's main beach for learners, longboarders and surf schools. There are rocky patches between the sand, and on windy days the southern end belongs to kitesurfers and windsurfers.

Local tips
Lower tides are usually easier, as the backwash gets strong higher up the beach. Pick the Pen er Malo end for cleaner shape and Lannénec for the smallest, safest waves for children and first-timers. Look out for the rock outcrops between the peaks, and keep clear of the kite zone when the wind is up.
Getting there
The beach lines the Boulevard de l'Océan, with shops, bars and restaurants across the road and bus and boat-bus stops within a few hundred metres. Lifeguards cover the western part in July and August, with toilets and showers.
